The past three weeks feels like one long day, in which a variety of things occurred:
Donahue confers with my replacement.
Some of the brilliant lady designers of Collective Rage
Right before Chaunté Wayans (Betty 5) texts me: “What’re you thinking about?”
Every queer play needs a butch truck consultant, and Lea DeLaria is ours.
Happy closing to a process that was, from start to finish, a beautiful whirlwind.
Saheem gives notes from inside the safehouse.
Samira and Alfie find their light… or rather, lighting designer Lap Chi Chu helps them find it in tech.
Samira Wiley as Pretty Mbane
Atandwa Kani (Sicelo), Michael Braun (Gregory), Alfie Fuller (Noxolo) and Phillip James Brannon (Marcel)
Our last day of rehearsal – a few of the many people who help the show run every night:
The Boston Globe comes to talk to us … and also manages to document Samira rocking the leather trucker hat of my dreams.

I’m either in rehearsal at MCC, in rehearsal at Williamstown, on an Amtrak going between the two, or completely lost in a miasma of confusion, texting various company managers and asking them where I am/ should be.
